The Four Horsemen of Blackjack

It has been more than half a century later that the Four Horsemen of Blackjack finally got the accolade that they deserved. More accurately known as The Four Horsemen of the Aberdeen Proving Ground, four men who all met in the army in the late 1950's developed a strategy literature that can help every Blackjack player beat the dealer.

By using mathematical analysis, then Private Roger Baldwin wanted to find out how to increase a player's chances of winning in Blackjack. With the help of his other army buddies William Cantey, Herbert Maisel and James McDermott, they calculated and hypothesized every angle of Blackjack in order to device a system that would actually help Blackjack players understand the dynamics of the game.

What was first an article on how to win in Blackjack turned into a book published sometime in the late 1950's. While Blackjack aficionados picked up the book, it didn't sell quite as well as The Four Horsemen intended to.

But within the Blackjack circle, what The Four Horsemen did revolutionized how Blackjack is now perceived to be. It propelled a growing interest in the game which later on convinced other players and Blackjack lovers to come up with a strategy book of their own - loosely based on what The Four Horsemen first wrote.

Suffice it to say that the books now published about Blackjack strategies are the improved versions of the formulas and system found in the original Four Horsemen book and article.

Everyone in the Blackjack circle agree that the book first written by The Four Horsemen laid the groundwork for more Blackjack tips and strategies. Without it, no one would have considered the possibility that Blackjack can be explained in a mathematical equation and that certain premises about the game can help the player predict the outcome of his game.

Now, more than half a century later, The Four Horsemen finally got the thanks and acknowledgement that they deserved. Recently inducted in the Blackjack Hall of Fame, The Four Horsemen is the only group to be inducted in the prestigious Blackjack Hall of Fame.

Blackjack is now gaining popularity much like the other favorite card games in casinos. With the onset of online Blackjack, it only follows that a lot more people will be hooked on the game especially since Blackjack has just been made accessible to everyone across the globe at any time they want to play.

There are also now Blackjack World Tournaments that players can join to show off their expertise of the beloved card game.
